Roots 2 Rise Playshop- Find Your Balance

Tuesday March 19th 6:30-8pm- Optional Afterglow with Treats and Tea
This ALL LEVELS Playshop helps build core strength, focus & courage! The first part of classs starts with deep hip opening postures (YIN) to help us build our roots for the standing postures. The basic standing postures help us develop courage for balancing poses like Tree, Warrior lll and Spinal Balce (pictured below). Through consistent play in these postures the work gets easier. 
This fun and engaging class will use Yin postures for the joint system of your body followed by a standing series of yoga postures to build muscle and strength. In the third part of class we will workshop the form and funtion of balancing postures. Balancing in yoga is not magic. Once you understand how to use your focus and the weight of your body you can begin using balancing posturesa to build strength and develop the courage it takes to fall. Falling out of postures is just as important as holding them. When we fall we learn how to engage the parts of the body needed to stay in the pose. Each time we return to the posture to try again we go a lttle bit further.  Growing stronger in the posture!

What Is Yin Yoga?

The practice of Yin Yoga targets the joint system of your body and helps lubricate the joints and improve flexibility. In Yin we relax while holding postures for several minutes to help open the hip joints, sacrum, lower back, spine and shoulders. You will leave this class feeling totally stretched out and experience better sleep, relaxed and energized!

What Is Yang Yoga?

The practice of Yang styles of Yoga target the muscular system of your body and help improve physical strength and mobility. Here we have repetition of postures, connecting breath and movement in a flow. If you want to wring out your body, feel stronger and build inner heatfor better digestion then try a Yin/Yang or Slow Flow Class.

Lynne Baum, ERYT, has been teaching yoga full-time since 2001. She has owned two yoga studios and created a Yin Yoga certification program in 2008 to help people understand the importance of Yin. Lynne moved to Otto in 2021 and is now ready to share her teachings once again. Lynne has studied in India, the home of Yoga, several times and has hosted Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica, Ireland & India. More retreats coming soon!
